There are 15 ponds
in Oak Grove with an estimated land coverage of 79.51 acres. The ponds are required to be maintained by Oak Grove
under the strict guidance of the
Southwest Florida Water Management District (SWFWMD). In
addition, the
Environmental Protection Commission (EPC)
regulates vegetation in the Oak Grove ponds. SWFWMD mandates
that each pond upkeep current permits obtained through inspection by a
licensed state of
Florida inspector. The Association has retained the services of
Lane Engineering to perform the
SWFWMD mandated inspections. Inspection frequencies vary according
to the condition of the ponds.
Thus, the Association must work in conjunction with SWFWMD, the EPC
and Lane Engineering when considering clearing, cleaning and
treatments within and around each pond.
There
is a lot to be considered when maintaining the ponds. First,
considerations of
sumps,
skimmers
and weirs.
Second, a pond may contain
wetlands, wetland
mitigation areas and buffer areas that are protected by SWFWMD.
The

around ponds 10, 20, 21, 30, 40

map), 70

map),
and 120, 130
(see
map) indicate Outer
Boundary's of the Wetlands/Conservation boundaries.
Any activity in
these areas requires written permission from SWFWMD and
possibly the EPC. Estimated total acreage within
the boundaries (not counting school property or property adjacent to
Pond 150 still owned by developer) is 265 acres. Lastly, the
consideration of stormwater systems which consist of 30%
(79 acres/265 acres) of the wetland/conservation areas.
It is important that you
DO NOT enter into, mow or play around any of these
areas! Please know your
lot property lines by referencing the
Pasco County Appraiser's website.
The HOA Board
recognizes the ponds by pond numbers (see
map). SWFWMD references the ponds according to permit
